The North Face Class V Trunk- 6" inseam, belted and versatile. I find myself wearing these to the gym, around town, the pool and the boat.

I'm also a big fan of 80's bright neon trunks, as found on ebay or patiently waiting to be discovered, forgotten, at the lake or beach house.
The river short from North Face and Patagonia are super versatile and perfect for travel as well because of how many different ways you can use them - pool, work out, lounge.
