I am extremely unqualified to talk about new music, due to the fact I pretty much exclusively listen to Hall & Oates, the Band, Neil Young and the Talking Heads. Despite this, I really believe the Mumford & Sons album "Sigh No More" is awesome. This was originally going to be a best albums of 2010 post, but I realized the only albums released in 2010 that I listened to were "Sigh No More" and the Drive-By Truckers 2010 album "The Big To-Do. Please let me know if you've got any recommendations for me.

"Sigh No More" is definitely one of my most played 2010 albums, but here are a few more good ones for anyone with similar tastes to Mumford & Sons you should definitely check out, in order of 'awesome' (as used above.)
ReplyDeleteJustin Townes Earle - Harlem River Blues [this ought to be required reading!]
Vampire Weekend - Contra
Avett Bros - Live, vol. 3
Carolina Chocolate Drops - Genuine Negro Jig
And for something a little more crazy/upbeat-
Girl Talk - All Day
OK Go - Of the Blue Colour of the Sky (one of my most played in 2010, only down here bc it's a different style than above)
~Sam in SC
Three albums were in heavy rotation this year.
ReplyDeleteKings of Leon - Come Around Sundown
Zac Brown Band - You Get What You Give
The Avett Brothers - I and Love and You
Those were my favorite albums that I listened to this past year. I think you'd enjoy them too even though one of them was technically released in 2009. I really enjoyed the Mumford and Sons album as well and was coincidentally listening to them as I as reading your post.
